Patriotism, North of the 45th Parallel... Eh

Nothing to do with the EQUATOR and NORTH POLE... we may be halfway there (in both cases) but it is matter for another blog - and another time... Nope, rather, we delve into the North American grossest separation between the purported land of the free and home of the brave - and Canada. USofA and its melting pot properties - and the self-proclaimed ''mosaic of cultures'' that the other one pretends to be, up north. Some prefer the 49th parallel - meh! There were trade-offs of territories between the two nations over the (early) years and, in truth, all man-made boundaries are illusory at best, so... Give it a rest, will ya? Anyways, if damn Canada (that means it is both blasted *and* blamable - since 1995, at least) had played its cards right, it would have even *more* territory - and somewhere where it is habitable, actually! As it stands, most of it is a wasteland - which is great since the Polar Bears have been relocating, lately - not just the Lavigueur...! But who gives a beaver's tail? Frag it, as a great American would say! We'll just take the 45th over the 49th any time; for its added, considerably greater significance of being smack-dab in the middle of it all...!!! And there's no need for any justification at all here: our blog, our rules!

So, back to Canada and the USA: today being ''the day'' for the former... three days away from the latter's party - yay. Their national prides follow very closely, as we know - July 1st and July 4th (aw, sorry, Uncle Sam; ''the Fourth of July'' it is... there, happy? Old coot!)

But what of their songs to reflect that patriotism they are supposed to have, on both sides of that parallel? Which ones are more pleasant to the ear now...?  Let's see... or, rather, hear!

Yeah...
exactly as we all thought... EH?
''from sea to shiny sea...''
- not much to see!
