Forever Nights

... what else can we think of,
on these days of self-isolation
peppered with long hot nights?

What else other than all these songs
- all these unforgettable melodies -
about love, lust and THE NIGHT...?

... video not available in its own country of origin?
CANADA - where that music was MADE?
HAHAHAHA. Good one, YouTube. HERE:

Damn you... Warner!!!

No one is making any money off that music!
THIS is just to sample it - and compare!!!
You're just as bad as the Greedy Rat
who thinks he's got super-powers,
mastered The Force
and owns the whole blamed world --- now!
JUST. AS. BAD!

AND IT MAKES ME MAD!!!

#ButThat'sAnotherStory

... for another blog!

* UPDATE *

I think we have got our true winner now:

Led Zeppelin 1969

Everybody raves about WHOLE LOTTA LOVE;
but which song, 50 years ago, truly gave us a clue
about this legendary Led Zep bunch of guys
(commonly, they refer to them as a "band" yes)
and the heights that they would reach...?

Dazed and Confused?

(Hey - DC!)

How Many More Times?

Communication Breakdown?

You Shook Me?

Babe I'm Gonna Leave You?

Sitting and Thinking...?!?

... or any of those covers?!?

Alright, alright, alright...

A WHOLE LOTTA LOVE
it is!

And only a year later
(a few months, really!)
we had the
IMMIGRANT SONG

and, 5 years later,
KASHMIR

Favorite Song From 1969...?

Now that's a toughie - huh?

1969-2019: that's 50 years, baby!
All of these have reached this milestone now;
a fiftieth anniversary and constant airplay on all
the radio stations there are, worldwide!
But which one is truly your fave here - hmm?
Which one you truly cannot get tired of hearing -
FIFTY LONG YEARS LATER... huh?!?
Let's run through them, one more time...

... that sweet girl named Mary
(aren't all Marys sweet things?)
who sang about those DAYS...?

... Portuguese Parlophone technology
with a Carlos helped out by Paul...?

... still: it was Simone
that represented the country
at Eurovision!
Can't get enough of her
participating song there...?!?

... or some mountaineer named Manuel
and his mountains there,,,?!?

... some formulaic quintet
with a cuentame complex...?!?
Nunca!

nah... can't be Honky Tonk Women
and those Rolling Stones either...!

... those very same Stones
asking for Shelter,
just a shot away...?!?

... those Lettermen, hurting so bad?

... a creedence clearwater revival
doomsaying about
some bad moon rising now,,,?!?

It did inspire this, somehow:

AND, perhaps, THIS:

...never mind...

... grazing in the grass,
with some
friends of distinction...?!?

... getting together,
with some youngbloods...?!?

... or coming together,
like beetles do...?!?

... BOTH those Youngbloods
and Beatles (!) inspired many
to grow their hair... in all sorts of ways!
But none inspired so much
as them Cowsills...!!!

... but how about some
crystal blue persuasion
instead of all that -
thanks to (some other) Tommy
(not to be confused with Who!)
and some Shondells...?!?
(It's better than cowsills - no?)

... those very same Shondells
with crimson... and a clover...
the endless cover versions of that tune...
AND its appearance on many-a-soundtrack,
including this upcoming film there?!?

... feel like being number ONE,
on a cold three dog night,
the coldest night there is,
according to the eskimo...!?!

... or would you rather feel
DIZZY - like Tommy Roe
(and that hoe, there...?!?)

... we are all ''everyday people''
who got to live together
(as them youngbloods sang...
and them beetles there, too...)
but still...

Now, that one inspired THIS for darn sure:

...but let's move on...!

... what of succumbing to temptations then
- especially when one finds that
one cannot "get next" to them...?!?

... must be because ya all got
suspicious minds then... huh?!?

... shame on you, all!
And shame on us, also...!

We know we forgot (omitted)
quite a lot of other tracks...
but really now...
there is only one clear cut winner here;
one obvious choice to make -
especially now, as we reach
a turning point in human history,
fifty long years after this was released:

YOUR BEST SONG
~EVER
FROM THE YEAR 1969:
AQUARIUS

LET THE SUNSHINE IN
BY THE 5TH DIMENSION

with an honorable mention to

... because it's about the future!
(if nothing happens between now - and then, that is!)

Everything You Need!

SOUNDTRACKS - AGAIN!
Or, as properly said, songs that adorn
the actual soundtrack of a film;
as the "soundtrack" as the term says it
is the entire film's worth
of every sound it contains -
it has been so since the advent
of the "talkie"... folks!

A good soundtrack - rife with SFX and
the appropriate music to emphasize the exact
moments it needs to, when it pertains
to the action on the screen -
greatly enhances a movie.
Verily, it makes all the difference!
Some songs end up embodying the entire thing:
as they sum up everything you need to know
about that epic production!

And now that that has been clear again...
ONWARDS WITH THE TUNES!

First came the enigmatic Sia
(with a little help from Labrinth)
who was clearly inspired
-by Rupert Gregson-Williams,
among other notables-
when she came up with this song
for the first super heroine:

Celine Dion saw that -
and she thought she would
establish that, as she did
in 1997 with her song for "Titanic"
she is supposed to be
the uncontested queen of
movie tunes -
de facto queen of the super hero
theme song as well... eh?
Alas - she chose the wrong
"hero" to do so...
And the result was... this:

And then... the real deal!
Inspired by a true hero,
an amazing heroine in Mera
the dynamic between the two
and another epic score by
Rupert there...!
Skylar Grey came and eclipsed
everyone that came before
-much like Aquaman did,
with all super hero films ever!-
with this end credits song:

It is not to even be debated here:
THE WINNER IS
SKYLAR GREY

And the entire soundtrack
for Aquaman - trailers and movie; BOTH

At times, it becomes, all at once, the aquatic version
of James Bond 007... Blade Runner... Tron... and Star Wars!
Tremendous job, Rupert - and everyone!
